- I'm wondering if I can get some other peoples opinions on what to do with this Amiga computer I have
- here.
-
- I was recently given an Amiga 2000 system. It has about 3.5 megs ram. A 40 meg MFM type hard drive
- which is not working reliably at all. And a 2080 long persistance monitor. A long time ago I used
- to own an A500 system. I sold that and have been into IBM's since. I have however still had a soft
- spot in my heart for the Amiga computer. So I'm now wondering what I should do with this thing. I
- can't stand looking at Workbench 640x200 in 4 colors. And I equally can't stand interlace on the
- Amiga. I'm used to looking at Windows 95 running in 1024x768 256 color non interlace. By the way this
- Amiga only has 512k chip ram too.
-
- I do have a SVGA monitor kicking around here from when I upgraded the monitor on my IBM. And a
- Commodore 1702 composite color monitor. So I was thinking of getting a A1200. I would probably have
- to mail order it since all the stores that sold Amiga in my area (Vancouver, BC Canada) have gone
- bankrupt or are now selling IBM's or Mac's. Then I could use the SVGA monitor for Workbench and run
- it in 1024x768 NI. And use the composite color output on the 1702 for games.
-
- It doesnt make much sense to me to upgrade this A2000. It just needs too much. An accelerator. A
- new hard drive system. A new graphics card. Faster memory. High density drives. An OS upgrade. And
- when add it all up the price at least equals an A1200. And that computer seems to have all of that.
-
- So I wouldn't mind hearing some of the Amiga communities thoughts on this.
